Serendipitous
When I think of the "why" I started this adventure, I would say: “it started in an idea.” When I was a young Marine serving in Iraq, I...
Connecting others to a tribe.
Former Infantry Marine turned Social Worker and Behavior Mental Health Specialist. With 11 year on active duty, I have led from the front, always and continue to do that as a civilian. I have struggled getting out of the military, but when I realized that it was affecting my life and mental health; I did what the military taught me. Lean in, Dig deep and take the struggle head on.
I went through countless hours of therapy and mentorship from others that were struggling. My journey led me to wanting to be that leader and address issues and problems affecting the life around me. I got the help that I needed and got to a place where I knew I could help others along the way.
I became a Peer Support Specialist through the Veterans Affairs to learn how to talk to Veterans, I became a Social Worker to connect Veterans to equitable, adequate and appropriate resources and services, I got my Masters in Behavioral Mental Health to understand how to treat Veterans struggling with Mental Health issues.
This profession has taken me to so many different places helping different populations. I have been able to use the skills and mindset of the military to accomplish any task or mission given to me. With a mantra I share in all the work I do:
Be Kind
Show Love
Make a Difference Where You Can.
My brothers and I stumbled across an area that has over 100,000 homeless individuals; to include many children. In our search for understanding the situation we found a small Mission of Nuns that are doing their best to help many of these children that have no families or support in this poverty stricken area. we have done many projects with them to inspire, assist and help these young vulnerable children.
